1. The issue that I have chosen to write about is the freshman fifteen. The issue is whether or not in your first year of college you gain fifteen pounds. Not everyone will gain weight there first year of college but many do and the issue here is that the reason you gain weight your first year of college is because you are getting you used to different foods and a life style that is totally different from what you are used to.
2. The thing that really got people interested in this subject is that a lot of the time the freshman fifteen does happen to freshman. So people think that just because you are freshman you are bound the gain fifteen pounds your first year. But this is not true because this is dependent the amount of alcohol, calories, and the food choices you make. The weight gain be avoid if you eat healthy and stay in shape. The main group of people this is aimed at is college students and mainly students who are about to be freshman or students who will soon become freshman.
3.There are three different groups for this issue. The first is the group that believes you will gain fifteen pounds your freshman year due to the fact that you are going through a lot of changes. The second group is that of people who believe that you do gain weight but only around 2 to 3 pounds, they also say that this is due to lack of exercise and not eating healthy enough. Then there is the group that believes the freshman fifteen has a lot more to do with what sex you are. They say that males gain the most weight in their first year of college and there is still the ones who say it has nothing to at all to do with sex or race.
4.I am personal interested in this issue because I am a freshman in college and I have gained weight since my senior year in college. I really just wanted to find out more about this issue and see what causes this. And I can say from my personal experience my body has gone through a lot of changes with me moving away to college not just weight gain but many other things.

Brittany, it is not quite clear how exactly the first two positions are different from each other and how sex and race are related to them. Are these positions different based on the amount of weight gain they predict, on the reasons behind weight gain (the latter would be more worthy of exploring), or on the groups of people they predict are more at risk to gain weight? Also, aren’t “lack of exercise and not eating healthy enough” not part of “going through a lot of changes” after leaving home and changing lifestyle? Also, you might want to decide to split it up based on who people think is most at risk, e.g. all males; all females; all people who do not exercise and eat well, regardless of gender; all males that do not eat well or exercise, etc. Perhaps, those articles you have found explain why it is freshmen rather than all college students who gain weight.
